XV254 was the aircraft chosen to be statically displayed to HM The Queen in July 1977 at RAF Finningley as part of The Queen's Silver Jubilee Review of the RAF. The model is depicted in its original delivery scheme of light gray and white, which it wore between 1969-81.

Based at Korat, RTAFB Thailand, the R's processed data received from Beech QU-22Bs, which was picked from seismic devices (called ADSID) planted along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

On December 5, 1941, Caldwell shot down five Ju87's in a single engagement. He was promoted to Squadron Leader in January 1942 and took command of 112 Squadron RAF flying Kittyhawks. Caldwell's prowess as Wing Commander earned him the nickname, Killer, a moniker he disliked, although it was earned for service he was justifiably proud of.
